Reading the shelf…
Gus's Community Market is a specialty independent running 4 Bay Area stores, mid-size at about 13,527 sq ft each, indexing high on established names versus other Bay Area grocers.
Les Alliés isn’t on Gus's Community Market’s shelf yet in any of its 4 stores. The opening: 1 category where the shelf is already deep and the brand runs strong elsewhere.
Lead with Sparkling Brut Wine in Sparkling Wine.
Gus's Community Market stocks sparkling wine thinly, so a differentiated snack stands out instead of becoming the Nth option on a crowded shelf. It already earns space at 1 other Bay Area grocer.
The more differentiated opening is sparkling wine: Gus's Community Market stocks only 8 there, so Les Alliés Sparkling Brut Wine stands out rather than blending in.
