Del Duca at Woodlands
Woodlands is a specialty independent running 3 Bay Area stores, small-format at about 2,336 sq ft each, indexing high on clean-organic versus other Bay Area grocers.
Del Duca isn’t on Woodlands’ shelf yet in any of its 3 stores. The opening: 3 categories where the shelf is already deep and the brand runs strong elsewhere.
Lead with Genoa Provolone Olives in Snack Packs.
Woodlands stocks snack packs thinly, so a differentiated snack stands out instead of becoming the Nth option on a crowded shelf. It already earns space at 1 other Bay Area grocer.
Woodlands carries salami in real depth, 44 SKUs against a fleet median of 15.5, so a new entry there is the Nth option, and its per-unit price would likely sit near the top of a crowded shelf. The more differentiated opening is snack packs: Woodlands stocks only 3 there, so Del Duca Genoa Provolone Olives stands out rather than blending in. Lead with the snack packs, and position the salami as a finishing or gift item.
Woodlands merchandises 3 of the 3 categories the brand sells.
no strong clean/diet signal either way.
brand excitement 50/100.
enters a thin snack packs shelf as a point of difference.
