Reading the shelf…
The Epicurean Trader is a specialty independent running 6 Bay Area stores, small-format at about 2,935 sq ft each, indexing high on emerging & independent brands versus other Bay Area grocers.
Bear Bar isn’t on The Epicurean Trader’s shelf yet in any of its 6 stores. The opening: 1 category where the shelf is already deep and the brand runs strong elsewhere.
Lead with Organic Savory Herb Bar in Other Snack Bars.
The Epicurean Trader stocks other snack bars thinly, so a differentiated snack stands out instead of becoming the Nth option on a crowded shelf. It already earns space at 1 other Bay Area grocer.
The more differentiated opening is other snack bars: The Epicurean Trader stocks only 10 there, so Bear Bar Organic Savory Herb Bar stands out rather than blending in.
