The Epicurean Trader is a specialty independent running 6 Bay Area stores, small-format at about 2,935 sq ft each, indexing high on emerging & independent brands versus other Bay Area grocers.
Carlier isn’t on The Epicurean Trader’s shelf yet in any of its 6 stores. The opening: 1 category where the shelf is already deep and the brand runs strong elsewhere.
Lead with Nougat Bars in Other Snack Bars.
The Epicurean Trader stocks other snack bars thinly, so a differentiated snack stands out instead of becoming the Nth option on a crowded shelf. It already earns space at 1 other Bay Area grocer.
The more differentiated opening is other snack bars: The Epicurean Trader stocks only 10 there, so Carlier Nougat Bars stands out rather than blending in.
