Safeway at Mollie Stone's Markets
Mollie Stone's Markets is a specialty independent running 3 Bay Area stores, mid-size at about 10,122 sq ft each, indexing high on established names versus other Bay Area grocers.
Safeway isn’t on Mollie Stone's Markets’ shelf yet in any of its 3 stores. The opening: 3 categories where the shelf is already deep and the brand runs strong elsewhere.
Lead with Cheese Cake Slice in Cheesecake.
Mollie Stone's Markets stocks cheesecake thinly, so a differentiated snack stands out instead of becoming the Nth option on a crowded shelf. It already earns space at 1 other Bay Area grocer.
Mollie Stone's Markets carries other cookies in real depth, 44 SKUs against a fleet median of 11, so a new entry there is the Nth option, and its per-unit price would likely sit near the top of a crowded shelf. The more differentiated opening is cheesecake: Mollie Stone's Markets stocks only 11 there, so Safeway Cheese Cake Slice stands out rather than blending in. Lead with the cheesecake, and position the other cookies as a finishing or gift item.
