Ro*tel at Woodlands
Woodlands is a specialty independent running 3 Bay Area stores, small-format at about 2,336 sq ft each, indexing high on clean-organic versus other Bay Area grocers.
Ro*tel isn’t on Woodlands’ shelf yet in any of its 3 stores. The opening: 1 category where the shelf is already deep and the brand runs strong elsewhere.
Lead with Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies in Canned Diced Tomatoes.
Woodlands stocks canned diced tomatoes thinly, so a differentiated snack stands out instead of becoming the Nth option on a crowded shelf. It already earns space at 6 other Bay Area grocers.
The more differentiated opening is canned diced tomatoes: Woodlands stocks only 11 there, so RO*TEL Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies stands out rather than blending in.
