Andronico's Community Markets is a specialty independent running 7 Bay Area stores, large-format at about 25,622 sq ft each, indexing high on established names versus other Bay Area grocers.
Recess is a brand specializing in non-alcoholic beverages, particularly sparkling waters and craft mocktails.
It’s already on the shelf here, with 2 SKUs across 1 category. The growth is depth and breadth: 1 category to widen and 1 new door to enter, replicated across all 7 stores.
Lead with Ginger Lime "Mule" Craft Mocktail 4 Pack in Non-Alcoholic Cocktails.
Andronico's Community Markets stocks non-alcoholic cocktails thinly, so a differentiated snack stands out instead of becoming the Nth option on a crowded shelf. It already earns space at 2 other Bay Area grocers.
Andronico's Community Markets carries sparkling water in real depth, 158 SKUs against a fleet median of 46.5, so a new entry there is the Nth option, and its per-unit price would likely sit near the top of a crowded shelf. The more differentiated opening is non-alcoholic cocktails: Andronico's Community Markets stocks only 8 there, so Recess Ginger Lime "Mule" Craft Mocktail 4 Pack stands out rather than blending in. Lead with the non-alcoholic cocktails, and position the sparkling water as a finishing or gift item.
